Clwb Cymric 2-4 Trebanog

Cymric went into this match wanting to make amends after a disappointing performance against Treforest two days earlier.

They started well and put the Trebanog defence under some pressure early on but couldn’t properly test the Trebanog keeper. Trebanog found it a little hard to get a foothold in the game with Cymric being disciplined and energetic without the ball.

However, Trebanog took the lead against the run of play when Cymric failed to clear from their own box and the ball fell to the Trebanog midfielder on the edge of the area and he volleyed home into the bottom corner. Trebanog extended their lead 8 minutes later when a Trebanog corner was headed in unchallenged on the six yard box.

Cymric felt hard done by and came out for the second half with purpose and were rewarded within two minutes. Some good work down the left saw the ball crossed in by Ynyr James and and the ball felt to Tom Pritchard who blasted the ball into the bottom corner from 18 yards. Cymric then dominated the possession and put Trebanog under a lot of pressure but they couldn’t beat the Trebanog keeper who pulled off a couple of fine saves.

Trebanog extended their lead, again against the run of play, when another corner found the Trebanog centre half unmarked at the far post and he powered the header past James Hendy.

Cymric pushed and pushed but couldn’t break down the Trebanog defence and Trebanog made it four when Rhodri Williams missed his clearance and the Trebanog forward lifted the ball past the oncoming James Hendy.

Cymric pulled one back with the last kick of the match when Ryan David pounced on a goal keeping error at the edge of the box and rolled the ball into the empty net.
