Cymric went into this match with seven first-team regulars missing, including goal keeper James Hendy, but were determined to work hard and give a good account of themselves.
They started brightly but went behind to high-flying Cefn Cribwr’s first attempt at goal after 10 minutes when the left winger got to the by-line and pulled it back for the forward to slot in.
Cymric weren’t behind for long as Dylan Roberts levelled with a fantastic free-kick which flew into the top corner from fully 30 yards. Cymric then took the lead after 30 minutes when Ryan David picked the ball up in midfield and went on a mazy run and struck a superb shot past the keeper from 18 yards.
Cymric should have scored another two goals when Ryan David shot wide from 8 yards with the goal at his mercy and Neil Thomas, and the advancing goal keeper, failed to get a touch on Osian Pritchard’s through ball and the ball trickled inches past the post. Cefn Cribwr equalised with 10 minutes to play in the first half and then took the lead a couple of minutes before the break with a looping header from a long throw that went over stand-in keeper Tom Pritchard.
Cymric knew that they were still in the game but went further behind minutes into the second half.
The Cefn forward was allowed to turn in the box and his cross shot went in off the far post. Cymric continued to look dangerous but couldn’t quite find the killer pass or shot to trouble the Cefn defence. Cefn Cribwr extended their lead with a neat finish after a good move down the left, and they made it six from the penalty sport when Eilian Hughes handled the ball as he fell in the box.
Ryan David should have pulled a goal back but his header went over from 6 yards.
