Penrhiwfer oedd y tîm cyntaf i setlo i fewn i'r gêm gwpan yma gan gadw meddiant am gyfnodau hir, ond roedd amddiffyn Cymric yn gadarn drwy gydol yr hanner cyntaf.
Doedd dim llawer o gyfleoedd i'r naill dîm yn y 45 munud agoriadol, gyda'r cyfle gorau i'r tîm cartref yn dod o gic gornel Cymric o ben arall y cae. Fe dorrodd Penrhiwfer yn sydyn ond fe arbedodd James yn dda i gadw'r gêm yn ddi-sgôr. Kyle Goodfellow gafodd cyfle gorau'r ymwelwyr.
Parhaodd Penrhiwfer i gael y gorau o'r meddiant ar ddechrau'r ail hanner ond doedd dim arwydd fod amddiffyn Cymric, a oedd yn cael ei arwain gan y capten Rhodri Williams, yn mynd i ildio.
Ond ar ôl 67 munud, fe beniodd asgellwr y tîm cartref y bêl i'r rhwyd yn dilyn gwaith ymysodol da lawr yr ochr chwith. Aeth pethau o ddrwg i waeth i Cymric ar ôl i Williams dderbyn ail cerdyn felyn wedi iddo golli ei ben yn llwyr a neidio i fewn i dacl.
Er gwaethaf hynny, Cymric gafodd y cyfleoedd gorau tua'r diwedd ond fe lwyddodd Penrhwifer i gadw llechen lân a sicrhau buddugoliaeth annisgwyl yn rownd gyntaf Cwpan Cymru.
Bydd Cymric yn siŵr o gymryd balchder o'r perfformiad o ystyried bod cynifer o chwaraewyr yn parhau i fod ddim ar gael.

Cymric went into the match with several first team squad members still unavailable. The match started evenly with both teams trying to get a grip on the game and play football. Penrhiwfer settled first and had some good possession but they were unable to break down the Cymric defence who were well organised and worked hard.
Penrhiwfer had a couple of half chances as the first half wore on with their best effort coming from a breakaway after a Cymric corner. They were up the other end within seconds and it took a great save from James to deny them the opener. Cymric’s chances were limited with Kyle Goodfellow having their best effort but his shot was easily saved.
It was more of the same in the second half with Penrhiwfer having more of the ball and not being able to break down Cymric’s defence which was led well by the captain on the day, Rhodri Williams. Cymric’s chances were limited to long range efforts which didn’t trouble the home keeper.
Penrhiwfer took the lead on 67 minutes when a good move down the left led to a cross to the far post which was met by the winger whose header just crossed the line. Cymric were now forced to play higher up the pitch but a double yellow card for Rhodri Williams led to him being dismissed with 10 minutes of the game left.
However, it was Cymric who had the better chances in the closing stages. Osian Lloyd found himself in on goal afer some great pressing play but his effort was stopped by the keeper’s leg. Caio Iwan then found himself in space in the box but his effort was again well saved.
Penrhiwfer took the spoils and booked their place in the next round but Cymric, with still players missing, can take a lot from this match and should do a lot better when they have a full strength squad available.
